Japanese Eve

Saturday, October 29th, 2005

A fun night! We had 5 friends over for some Japanese fun! I had a lot of fun preparing my desert shshi (sushi decorated cupcates!) and getting random goodies together for the night! It was fun to dress up, do some origami, and laugh at old japanese films (with the help of MST3k!) We sure had fun :) Photos are under the new pics albumn!

Gigs

Thursday, October 20th, 2005

Nate asked me to play for Holden Chapel stuff on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Since I’m not working that much, I had no excuse :) I don’t get to play guitar though, I’m playing bass! For practice we had some nice equipment, and I hooked into a huge bass amp. Bass players are supposed to be big and fat, but the bass is bigger than I am.

I’m also working on my finance program for UNIX. If anyone wants to check it out, it’s open source!

Tutles and Retreats

Thursday, October 13th, 2005

Yikes, i havn’ blogged for a while! So, first i have to mention my cousin Everet’s Turtle Website that she made to help raise funds and help turtles have more success making it across roads! She is in grade school and was inspired this summer when helping box turtles cross the street! So, she put together this website to help save the world one turtle at a time :)
Also, this last weekend I went away on an awesome Young life leadership retreat up at camp Brookwoods in NH. We had an awesome speaker who was practical in regards to working with high school students and loving kids, and also challenging in a way that I think we all needed. I was so inspired by his godliness and passion for his life in Christ. It was a great weekend. Not to mention that we were able to get a good game of Settlers of Catan in….fun fun. :)
So, thats me!

Long Day

Sunday, October 9th, 2005

I woke up early cause I’m kinda sick. Today I will be out all day! 8:45 is practice at church, then 2 services, then a recording session at UMass until 11 PM. I hope I don’t get annoyed at everyone and everything :P

Ben the Lonely Geek and Ubu the Sick Feline

Friday, October 7th, 2005

Jill just left for a leadership retreat thingy with Young Life folks. I stayed home, and right now I’m working on a script to manage our finances! It’s really fun, and I think it will be an improvement on our other program when I’m done.

Also, Ubu’s kind of sick. We’re not sure what’s going to happen – but personally I can’t stand paying vet bills for animals. If the value to keep an animal alive exceeds the cost of a new pet, then ——. Some people spend thousands of dollars to keep pets alive. There are even pet hospitals that cost about $300 a night just to stay there. Well, I just refuse. I think that’s silly. I understand that people develop attachments to pets, but there comes a point you just have to let go and kill it or let nature run its course. My threshold for that decision just comes a little sooner than a lot of people!

Job Stuff

Tuesday, October 4th, 2005

I got laid off a couple weeks ago due to insufficient funds. I can’t remember if I already wrote about this. Tim was the best boss I’d ever had (which isn’t saying much, really). Hopefully he gets some revenue! http://www.tradingblox.com if you’re interested in back-testing software :)

I don’t think I’d like the corporate lifestyle very much. But Jill found an ad in the paper – the liquor store across the street is hiring! I mean, it’s less than 1/4 mile away. I could walk there. That’s a definite plus, we’ll see what happens.

Young Life

Tuesday, October 4th, 2005

Tonight was the second Young Life club of the year. Playing music is fun, there’s something crazy about a roomful of high school kids singing at the top of their lungs. I remember in chours class it was all the teacher could do to get one guy singing for 2 bars. At Young Life, they all love singing – it’s songs they know and hey, everyone else is doing it.

We went to a dinner with the YL commitee members and leaders. It was a very encouraging time. The commitee people are so mature in their faith and I respect what I see in them.
