A Blank Canvas

Sunday, September 25th, 2005

I am a part of freecycle, the Marlborough chapter. People put up stuff they want to get rid of, and other people claim it and pick it up for free – it is great! In the end of August I scored some blank canvases, the largest being 4 feet X 5 feet! I thought I would just bring it to school for the kids, but it was too big to fit into any car! So….i went to town….and it was the most fun and relaxing projoct I have done in a while. The only bummer is when a small kitten walks through the blue paint….yeah. Sarah the blueie. Anyways, it is done, it was fun, and it is hangin’ in the bedroom now :) weeeee.

Bolton Fair 2005

Sunday, September 25th, 2005

Made it to the end of the Bolton Fair today – t’was fun. I work on saturdays, so sunday is my fair day. I go at the end and always look forward to what i think is the best kept secret at the fair….the auction! this year there were only 4 of us when it started! crazy! it is the best part b/c you go away with a crazy mix of things for a few bucks. this year I scored some flowers, sconed, choc chip cookies, magic cookie squares, kids decorated pumpkins, tomatos, beans, onions, cactusssesss…whew! then you get to drive your car onto the grounds to load your goodies up! it was so fun – come next year!! it is seriously my favorite of the fair! This year was special though because i entered 2 things :) Every year I talk about doing it, and never have since the 4th grade when i entered a cross stitch. So, this year Mom, Julie and I entered some flowers. I did a miniature arrangement, and also a photo of Faith. The judge said that if cuteness was the only factor, i would have taken the cake, but she gave me some good photo tips to make it better. So, that was fun. No blue ribbon, but lots of random fresh veggies to do somehting with! yay :)

The Birds and the

So we went bike riding today. It was really nice out. We went to this nature area near our house with lotsa conservation land. There was a big field with tons of wildflowers. So Ben says, “Let’s ride across the field to that pond over there.” So we get about 15 feet in, and all of a sudden we heard it. The humming of hundreds of bees. At about the same instant, our eyes suddently detected their movement. They were all around us! We just panicked and booked it. Fortunately, we didn’t ride over a nest, but the field was covered in bees. Getting our bikes out of the field was scary but they weren’t too far in.

Ben remains BEE-STING FREE. Nope, I’ve never been stung even though I grew up in the woods.

Hours

Monday, September 12th, 2005

I just got my hours at work cut back. People hear this and immediately get a sad face. I don’t know why. Why would I be sad? I’m gleeful. I think I’ll have a beer to celebrate!

Ubu’s Health

Saturday, September 3rd, 2005

Finally, after several months of strange cat behavior and illness, Ubu is feeling his healthy ol’ self! He was kind of obsessively licking himself….this was later followed by peeing and pooping outside of the litter box. Finally, we made it to a vet to get checked out – went to Family Friends in Boxborough, and i HIGHLY reccomend them if you live in the area. They were so nice and the prices were about half of what the other local vet was going to charge for the same visit. Anyways, Ubu was on meds for a week for urinary tract infection and crystals in his urin. bummer. Now i chear him on every time he poops or pees in the litter box. Ben wonders why he doesn’t get such excitement when he does the same. Frankly, i wish ben would would stop using the litter box, but….
