the last few days we have had some fun…. sat night we went camping, just locally, but it is always fun camping out in the tent, roastin’ the dogs and the marshies. I struggled not to worry about ticks though – the other day we walked and ben had 5 deer ticks on him! They say that the whole lime disease is worse than ever in this area, and that we have a higher percentage of it than other parts of MA. Scarry. Me no like ticks.
What i do like is driving a tractor though! My friend steph owns one and we were hanging out…she said it was easy (even though it is a standard and i am a standard baby who cant drive one) But, she was a good teacher and… I drove a tractor! wheeee! find out more about Steph … there was a great little article on her in the bolton commmon

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005Muppets Wizard of Stupid
Monday, August 29th, 2005Yes, definately DO NOT rent Muppets Wizard of OZ. Really….strange movie. Greared for kids, i guess? But certain things bothered me that i wouldn’t let kids watch it….like when they are trying to beat out the wicked witch of the north they “witch slap” her….and then when dorothy puts on her ruby slippers she says it is all a girl needs to feel confident and sexy. Personally, I don’t think that is the secret… One good thing about the movie is that every muppet from Sam (the American Eagle) to Janis (the guitar player) makes it into a scene! The best line in the movie is when witchy piggy is complaining about her means of transportation and then electric mayhem walk by and complain that they are still driving a van from 1976! That was funny. But overall? I wished i had saved the $4.19 that Video Signals charched me.
Props to the Spirit in the Sky
Friday, August 26th, 2005I’m supposed to tell just one person this week what God has done (and does) for me – it was a challenge from the message last week. Brent said that when we do that, it raises God’s reputation to a place it deserves to be. I guess blogging counts
Here’s just a small list of stuff I can think of:
1) God forgives me instantly and totally every time I tell him I’m sorry.
2) He’s challenging me to become a better worker/husband/friend/person. Paradoxically, he’s not finished changing me but also loves me just the way I am.
3) He’s given me such a huge amount of stuff. I can’t believe how rich we are.
4) He’s given me the ability to realize (3) and helped me not to be envious of [insert filthy rich person here].
Ok, that’s a VERY short list – the point is to tell you all how awesome God really is.
Fall Melancholia
Friday, August 26th, 2005I love summer. But when the days start getting shorter and colder and everything starts dying, it’s kind of depressing. Thanksgiving should be now, because I’m thankful for every day that the temperature is above 80. There aren’t too many left
I think we’ll go camping this weekend – I feel rather “carpe diem” about the summer right now!

Piknik
Sunday, August 14th, 2005Today was the annual Harbor of Hope picnic. I played frisbee for about 4 hours straight and it was about 90 degrees. Now I smell luxurious and clean, but Jill seems to think I need a shower. I think they need to make a cologne like I smell right now.
Mud, mud, I love mud…
Saturday, August 13th, 2005did you ever sing that song in elementary school? I loved that one! And I loved mud – when i was both a camper and counselor at Conservation Camp “mucking” was one of my favorite activities of the week – we wore junkies and went knee high in yucky muck! it was great! I went out last night with my friend Colleen who still is at that camp and she had the sad news that they don’t do mucking anymore! so sad. But, my wonderful nieces and nephews have muck in their blood, as this picture will atest too….. ![]()
