DENIED – NO, ACCEPTED!

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

Our offer was accepted today at 6:30 PM for the Boxborough condo! There were apparently several calls to the seller even today about the place, but we saw it first and made the first offer. Since the seller wants to move out fast, we were blessed to have an accepted offer. This is the third one, and the first that’s been accepted. We’re pretty psyched (even though the deal isn’t sealed yet), so we’re going out for sushi. Cheers.

Bolton Excitement

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

Last night as we drove through the center of bolton we checked out the town message board to see what exciting evernts were coming up. It said only one thing “bolton garden club phonebook changes are due!” yikes and yowza! On another note, we looked at ANOTHER condo last night that we loved…so today we just have to wait and hear from them. Now THATS excitement! :)

Events

It’s a nice day today. I just spent some quality time outside with Ubu.

We looked at another condo yesterday and made an offer the same day, for $80,000. This is much cheaper than anything we’re looked at yet. It’s pretty small, but double the size of our place now! It will be a place we own, if the offer is accepted. And it’s in Boxborough, which is a good location for us. It’s closer to everything we do, and I can teach the same students there!

My friend Scott Foster, who lives in IL, just found out that he may have diabetes – it’s already affecting his vision. Keep him in your prayers, please.

Sushi & Saki

Monday, March 21st, 2005

We had a blast last night going out with our friends Dan & Oivia! We went to Shiros in Berlin for some japanese cuisine, and we are all still pretty new to the sushi scene. But we chose some yummy stuff, the soup, some saki, and just had so much fun. Not so much fun when the $95 bill arrives. But much better when the table next to us reaches over to trade bills – we had gotton theirs and they recieved ours! whew! Our bill was much more affordable :) So if you live in the area and want some sushi, we highly reccomend Shiros. The food is awesome, the people there are nice, and you can even buy some chopsticks if you want! Ben bought me a set! :)

Young Life Golf Marathon

Friday, March 18th, 2005

For the last several year I have participated in this Young Life fundraiser….100 holes of golf, pretty much all day, like 7am-7pm. I have only caddied, which has always been a blast. It cam be a long day, especially when it’s raining, but it is always a worthwhile time – for a great cause! Pretty much it is a fundraiser for financial support of kids going to camp and young life staff. Now this year (ready for this?) Ben said that he might be willing to golf!! Has he ever golfed? No! But he said he would be willing to do it :) So, now we have the challenge of raising pledges (we have to raise a certain amount to participate) and that is where we are putting out a little call to anyone out there who might be willing to support us a little bit. You could pledge amount per hole or a set amount for the whole thing. Even better, if your a golfer (or even if your not!) and would like to participate we are always looking for more people! Thanks friends! :)

Condo

Tuesday, March 15th, 2005

We looked at a condo yesterday, and we’re making an offer today! Our realtor is Jim Byler, a friend from church and the father of one of my best friends. We’re really lucky to have a friend as a realtor. We also have a friend at church who just passed the bar and became a lawyer! I haven’t asked him yet, but hopefully he can work for us at closing.

Jill saw a condo online, and we called Jim up, and we looked at the property the same day. It’s moving kind of fast, and Jill is psyched. It’s such a huge purchase but a good investment as well. 30 years from now we’ll have paid it off, theoretically – when we’re 54 and 55. Wow. Hopefully we can pay it off before then.

The Eating Habbits of Ubu

Friday, March 11th, 2005

Though Ben portrays him to be a testy, mouthy cat, Ubu is really quite the perfect feline. He plays, he snuggles, he purrs like a machine, and he also has the most interesting taste in foods! Last night we had pasta with cheese and broccolli. Broccolli must have some relationship to catnip or something, because Ubu went crazy for it! He loves it! And the lemon squares for desert…same thing! He loves lemon squares too. Maybe I’ll mix up some broccolli-lemon squares for him. :) Ubu & his broccolli

A Horrible Ordeal

Thursday, March 10th, 2005

Where do my servants get their ideas? Perhaps they think it fun – sadistic monsters that they are – to gang up on their master, cage him, oust him from their presence for the night, and arrange for the removal of his cathood? I, of course, fought valiantly, but I was not prepared for this betrayal. I fear I shall never trust my servants for as long as I live.

Perhaps I will arrange to have Ben tied up, locked away, and watch with amusement as my colleagues remove his manhood! That would teach him, I suspect.
